Husband and wife scammers: The Dragon King hoax

Hsu, 30, started a temple along with his wife for the "Dragon King"--and Hsu claimed "the Dragon King" had chosen himself to reach out to his followers.

Those who believe were asked to remove their clothes so that symbols could be drawn onto their entire body, or were told that the King himself could change their bad luck by sleeping with them.

Investigations found that fourteen victims had been molested more than two hundred times in the past two years.

On August 18, the Hsu's were arrested for obstruction of justice.

According to police investigations, the Hsu's do not have a steady income. Either has been a part-time actor, security, janitor, and a part-time worker.

The year before last, the family had a second child, police suspect that that was the reason why the family began to have financial issues and started a temple in Lu Jou District.

The temple the Hsu had started was named "the Sanctuary of the Dragon God." Hsu had made up a wondrous background story when he started the temple; He promoted to his followers that he had been possessed by "

the "Dragon King" before when he was in Thailand, and now had the ability to change people's luck. He also claimed that if a follower had sex with him, she will have the "lucky charm"--but this must be done on a regular basis.

The scammer's wife not only condoned this behavior from her husband, she also was glad to play the part of "the assistant." She regularly took money out from the six bank accounts that the con artists had opened and distributed "luck money" to their clients.

The fourteen victims were mostly women--only one male--and all were young unemployed people, unsure with their future. And two of the victims were so sure that they were dealing with a god and that their luck had really changed that they went back and recommended their sisters to go to Hsu to get molested.

Investigators had also found stacks of sex tapes this April when they searched the temple. The followers, in the past, had truly believed in the temple; however, as investigation slowly uncovered, and they found out that every donation from the temple was only less than $100 NTD, they were broken down to tears.

To this day, the two con artists still deny the temple is a hoax. And that the reason why there had been sexual encounters was because there was a connection between the follower and the "Dragon King"
