Sweat spots under one's arms are the worst--worst than body odor. The thought having sweat seeping through in between one's sleeves makes most cringe. And so to prevent this disaster from happening, most women in Taiwan carry a bottle of anti-perspirant spray with them as if it were just another make-up accesory. And whenever they sweat, they would just "spray" the sweat away.
However, this method may prove to be detrimental to the skin if kept up for more than a few days. The skin may become severely red, swollen, and itchy--all of which the symptoms of dermatitis.
The best way to use your anti-perspirant, the doctors suggest, is to spray it after shower before going to bed--and once is more than enough.
Anti-perspirants must be applied on dry skin. If the skin is moist, it cancels out the effect. Also, make sure not to apply deodorant or anti-perspirants on wounds.
Many mistake anti-perspirants for deodorants; however, deodorants only mask body odors, they do not stop sweat. And even though anti-perspirants are mostly fragranted, they do not mask odors as well as deodorants. So make sure you read the labels before you check out at the counter!
If you have a serious sweating problem or body odor issue, it is best to consult a doctor, as products can only do so much.
