Wu, a merchant in Taichung City, attempted suicide in the master bedroom of his apartment along with his wife and thirteen-year-old daughter.

When the elder daughter of Wu went to work yesterday morning, she felt sick and woozy. After being examined by the doctors at the ER, she was surprised to hear that she had carbon monoxide poisoning. However, it was then that she realized that her family might had had tried to burn charcoal in one of their rooms in attempt to kill themselves.

The police stated that they immediately rushed to the scene as soon as they received the call from the elder daughter at the hospital. When they opened the door to the master bedroom, the police found Wu's wife and little girl lying on the bed, and Wu on the floor of the en suite.

Investigators further mentioned that any cracks in the bedroom were sealed with towels and that the bowl of charcoal on the vanity table had already burnt to dust. Many at the scene had thought they were staring at three corpses, but had eventually realized that there was still hope because they saw that the air condition was still turned on.

Sleeping pills had also been discovered at the scene, and police had originally suspected Wu, 44, and wife to be strongly determined in ending their lives. However, no suicide notes were to be found.

Wu's relatives arrived at the scene after the incident, and his brother and in-laws pointed out that Wu was actually failing in his business.

As for why the elder daughter had left the house in the first place, and had she changed her mind about joining her family in their suicide pact? Was she the one who turned on the air conditioner? Investigations will be conducted.
