Death in friendship lead to group suicide

Three women all at the age of forty to fifty in Banqiao District in New Taipei City had decided to end their lives by burning charcoal at home.

When the Fire Department broke into the home of one of the ladies, empty liquor bottles and pill containers were to be found around the unconscious bodies. The Police also found a note that said, "even if we become ghosts, we will not show mercy to Yu and her daughter. And we wish to be buried together."

The police's initial investigation has led them to believe that the source of this problem was money. They three women had decided to lend $10,000,000 NTD to Yu as bail money, thinking they would get the money back from their friend. However, Yu does not give back the money, and the three women are heavily in debt.

Having no means to pay off the debt and being pushed to the edge, the three women gathered in an old apartment in Banqiao; determined to die, they sat around the steel bowl that had the burning charcoal inside, and swallowed as much as liquor and pills as they could before the police arrived.
