39 year-old Wang Chung Yi and Chen Li Ya are a couple in Nan Tou who had murdered Wang's parents to cheat their way out of their $400,000 NTD credit card debt.

The Wang couple had only one regular income from their parents' Farmer Household Allowance, while they sometimes had part-time jobs. But with the debt closing in on them, Wang decided to drive his bedridden non-biological father to the mountains and then beat him to death with a blunt weapon. After the body was dumped on the bed of the North Harbor Creek, a missing person's report was filed the next morning.

Even though the original plan was to porfit from the death of Wang's father, but the wait was too long. Therefore, the couple decided to turn their attention to Wang's mother. Last year in August, the couple had decided to purchase a $500,000 NTD "minor injury" insurance on Mother Wang. So on October 5th, Wang drove the entire family to Pu Li's Chung Guah Creek to "catch some shrimp."

Wang first asked his wife to take the child to a place far away, then he pushed his mother to the deepest end of the creek, holding her head firm in the water until there was no more signs of life. Afterward, Wang took the body to the shallow end of the water and asked his wife to call the police.

Wang Yi Chung immediately donated his mother's body to science to receive a compensation of $50,000 NTD as a result. However, an autopsy has revealed that there was hemorrhaging in the parenchyma under the scalp; there was also hemorrhaging in both shoulders and in the top right back muscle. All of which can lead to a solid conclusion of a beating before death, opening an investigation.

A second autopsy on the father confirms that the body suffered a series of blunt force trauma before death to the temporal lobe, the left and the back of the head. There were tramatic fractures and blunt force traumas to the head.

When the investigators passed on this information to the Wang couple and asked for a polygraph, Wang thought he had been exposed and tried to flee the country. But it was on April 5th, when he was trying to buy a ticket to Indonesia at the airport that he was really detained by the airport security.

According to prosecutor Chen Cheng Yi, Wang's ruthless elaborate scheme ultimately only earned in a total $390,000 NTD and a life or death sentence.
